$17 Million Roadway Improvement Project Information
The original $17 Million Roadway Improvement bond was closed as of December 2023. We are now operating off a $15 Million Roadway Improvement bond that was a referendum approved by the voters of Narragansett.
Nighttime Line Striping
K5 Corporation will be in Town late tonight, once traffic on the streets is minimal, line striping many roads in town. If you come upon them, please do not tailgate them, try to pass the truck or crossover the newly painted lines. Tailgating and passing the vehicle while it is actively spreading the paint will result in your car/tires getting paint on them. If this should happen, please contact K5 Corporation at 781-982-9229 or visit their website at https://www.k5corporation.com/

Starting September 8th through October 3rd (weather permitting) Comer Contracting will be applying a layer of Double Chip and Fog Seal to the following roads: Allagash Trail, Algonquin Trail, Mohawk Trail, Old Town Trail, Presque Isle Trail, Cross Street & Pennsylvania Ave. This process was approved by the Town Council on March 4, 2024.
Stone Sealing (aka Chip Sealing) is a cost-effective method of treating pavement surfaces to slow down the rate of deterioration and extend its useful life. To be a good candidate for Stone Sealing, pavement needs to be structurally sound with no significant defects. Roads selected will have already been repaired from any localized defects with Hot Patch. Stone Sealing is a key component of a strong Pavement Preservation Program.
Fog seal is a single application, typically light, of emulsified asphalt to an existing asphalt surface. This type of maintenance treatment can be a valuable aid to renew weathered (oxidized) asphalt surfaces and improve the surface appearance, seal minor cracks and surface voids, and inhibit raveling. The Fog Seal will be applied after the Stone Seal has cured.
This type of Stone Seal with Fog Seal over it is different from what the Town has used in the past and is a better alternative which does not leave the rough surface look to the road which residents are familiar with. Fog Seal leaves a black finish similar to a standard asphalt road when completed. Comer Contracting will keep affected sections of the roads closed and will open them up again when it's okay to walk/drive on them.

Starting July 7, 2025, weather permitting, Felix A. Marino Company will begin Phase 2 of the Narragansett 2024 MRBP Crackfill program. The list of roads to be crack filled are here: Crack Fill list.
The Crack Filling process consists of pouring liquid asphalt into the cracks, then topping it with a 50/50 mix of cold sand concrete and stone dust. The Town Council approved Surface Treatments for Various Roads last June 19, 2023.
From July 14 to approximately July 18, 2025, weather permitting, Felix A. Marino will begin Phase 2 of the 2024 Rejuvenator Fog Seal treatment to these roads: Ph 2 Rejuvenator Rd List
Reclamite Preservative Seal (Rejuvenator) is a rejuvenating maltene based penetrating seal that can extends road life about 3-5 years, by restoring the plasticity and durability in the asphalt. Water intrusion into the pavement, ultraviolet damage and other aging factors can cause raveling and oxidation of the pavement, which impacts its service life. A Reclamite®`s Preservative Seal replaces the maltene fractions lost through weathering and high temperatures reached during the manufacturing process. Reclamite® penetrates the asphalt and seals out water and UV while inhibiting raveling and oxidation by replacing the flexibility of the pavement and restoring its binding strength.
The use of Reclamite® Preservative Seal provides a more economical method of rehabilitating older pavements than either total replacement, conventional seal coats or overlays.

Stone Sealing and Fog Sealing are preventive measures applied to help extend the life of your road. Fog Sealing is a single application, typically light, of emulsified asphalt to an existing asphalt surface. This type of Stone Seal with Fog Seal over it is different from what the Town has used in the past and is a better alternative which does not leave the rough surface look to the road that residents are familiar with. Fog Seal leaves a black finish similar to a standard asphalt road when completed. One third of the project will be reimbursed by the State of Rhode Island through Governor McKee’s Municipal Road and Bridge Fund Grant Award.
The time length for completion of this project is dependent on the contractor’s equipment functioning normally and weather conditions, which we have no control over.
For further information on these treatments, please click the link to the Comer Contracting website: http://www.comercontracting.com/ .
The request for bids was advertised in the Narragansett Times, solicited and posted on the Town of Narragansett and State Purchasing Division website. The bid was awarded to Comer Contracting at the Town Council meeting on March 4, 2024
The Department of Public Works appreciates your patience and cooperation while this project is happening.
