Special Programs

Adopt-A-Spot Program
The Adopt-A-Spot Program offers schools, business and civic groups a way to help create a cleaner community by maintaining an adopted area. This is a voluntary program which is currently under the authority of the Narragansett Conservation Commission and is administered through the Department of Community Development.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Town of Narragansett has participated in the Community Development Block Grant program since 1991. Its purpose is the development of viable urban communities through the provision of decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanded economic activities, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income.

Community Septic System Loan Program (CSSLP)
As part of the Community Septic System Loan Program (CSSLP), the Town of Narragansett is responsible for the distribution of funds from a $300k grant (from the RI Clean Water Finance Agency and RI Housing) to assist homeowners with the cost of repairing failed septic systems and cesspools that may otherwise contribute to groundwater pollution.
