The
Narragansett Emergency Management Agency is responsible for the town's planning, response, recovery and mitigation of natural disasters, technological accidents, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
The NEMA is led by Director Scott Partington who also serves as the Fire Chief. Chief of Police Sean Corrigan serves as the Deputy EMA Director. Together both Chief Partington and Chief Corrigan provide the leadership and knowledge to lead the Town through any disaster it may encounter.
The
Narragansett Emergency Operations Plan has identified and prioritized hazards that could affect the community. Based upon history, vulnerability, threat and probability, the following hazards are identified in order of concern:
- Hurricane
- Severe Weather
- Widespread Power Failure
- Hazardous Materials Incidents
- Flooding and Dam Failure
- Local Radiological Incidents
- Earthquake
