    Numerous organizations & Town Depts. are partnering to showcase the historical, cultural & natural beauty of Narragansett while increasing the awareness of the Town's rich history & natural resources. It is the intent of this three day family event to provide the opportunity for folks to explore, learn and celebrate the Town of Narragansett with a diverse menu of educational and fun activities for all ages. All activities are free or at a very low cost. Some of the activities during this weekend are: a movie at the Gazebo, kayaking on Narrow River, geology field trips, trolley tours, scavenger hunt, concert at the Gazebo, open house at Kinney Bungalow and Sunset Farm, history of the Towers, sand castle building with professionals, volley ball demonstrations, lifeguard demonstrations, working the print shop at South County Museum, Galilee walking tours, wastewater plant tours, boat tours, bird watching, clamming for kids, oyster farm demonstrations, fish touch tanks, and much more!

  26. What Lives in the River? ('Gansett Days Celebration)

    An all ages introduction to common fish, shellfish, crabs and other inhabitants in the River. There will be hands-on seining with experts to catch river creatures and guided walks along the intertidal zone and salt marsh to observe the inhabitants. There will be river water tanks and microscopes to examine river creatures and guidebooks to help identify them. Experts will discuss the importance of estuaries as nurseries for fish and shellfish, the fascinating migration of river herring, and the role of river plant in the food web. Please wear footwear that can get wet.

    Our contribution to a state-wide celebration of special green spaces just outside your door. Departing from the Center, join us for an all ages guided walk across the bridge and through the Garrison House Acres Narrow River Land Trust property. The tour will discuss the significance of the Jireh Bull Garrison House to King Phillips War, natural history and on-going activities to improve wildlife habitat.
